Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX17117, a complete power solution for gate-on-array (GOA) notebook LCD panels. This fully integrated device includes a 7-channel, high-voltage scan driver for the TFT panel gate drivers; a MOSFET boost converter for AVDD supply; a 350mA LDO; and a high-speed operational amplifier for LCD backplane bias—all in a 25mm² TQFN.
Maxim's high-voltage BiCMOS process enables the integration of scan drivers with the LCD power supply to save space and cost in ultra-slim notebook computers. Additionally, the scan driver features an innovative gate-shading function to drive the GOA panel while lowering overall power consumption. The integrated MOSFET boost converter reduces overall BOM cost by eliminating the need for an external MOSFET.
The operational amplifier offers slew rates of 40V/µs, typ and a bandwidth of 16MHz, making it ideal for driving the LCD backplane. The seven scan driver outputs swing 40V (max) between +35V (max) and -15V (min) to swiftly drive the gate capacitance of the LCD backplane.
The MAX17117 is available in a 5mm x 5mm, 32-pin TQFN package and operates over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range. Prices start at $1.00 (5000-up, FOB USA).
