Quad CMOS Analog Switches 09-07-07

Vishay released two series of quad SPST CMOS analog switches that combine high switching speeds with high signal bandwidth for use in a wide range of switching applications, including audio, video, data, and power. The DG451 and DG454 series of devices have four independently selectable 44-V SPST switches, each with a typical on resistance of 4Ω and a typical flatness of 0.2Ω, ideal parameters for low-distortion audio signal switching. All the devices are pin-compatible with the Vishay Siliconix DG411, DG412, and DG413, but with significantly lower on-resistance and faster switching times. Additionally, the DG454 series offers the benefit of not requiring a logic voltage pin. The advantages of this feature include no requirement for a 5-V power supply to operate, no need for a PCB trace connecting the logic voltage pin, and no need for power supply sequencing.

The DG451 and DG454 are normally closed, while the DG452 and DG455 are normally open. The DG453 and DG456 each have two normally closed and two normally open switches. These choices provide designers with the proper switch condition during power-up to meet the needs of their specific application. The new switches are optimized for analog switching, including audio, data, video, and power switching, and data acquisition in audio and video systems, precision automatic test equipment, data acquisition systems, relay replacement, communications systems, automotive and avionics systems, and sample and hold systems. The high-voltage devices are fully specified with dual supplies at ±5V and ±15V, and a single supply of 12V. They feature fast switching speeds of tON 80 ns and tOFF 60ns, and offer a ±15-V analog signal range. Power dissipation for the DG451 family is a low 15μW. All digital inputs have 0.8V and 2.4V logic thresholds, ensuring low-voltage TTL/CMOS compatibility. Each switch conducts equally well in both directions when on, and can handle an input signal range that extends to the supply voltage rails. The devices are offered in a choice of TSSOP16 or SOIC-16 packages, and are RoHS-compliant.
