Second Quarter 2009 at Tyco Electronics 30-04-09

In the second quarter of 2009 Tyco Electronics reported sales of 2.46 billion US$ which is 33 percent below the results of the same period of the previous year. The net loss was 3.24 billion US$ compared to the 301 million profit US$ of Q2/2008. The high losses are attributed to the 3.55 billion US$ impairment of goodwill. In comparison to the 2nd quarter 2008 the sales of electronic components dropped by 45 percent, for network solutions by 22 percent and for special components (e.g. space travel, medical technology) by 21 percent.
