According to the ZVEI - Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie in Germany, the semiconductor market in June 2006 was still in slight decline. This was 2% less than the same month in the previous year, after remaining the same for May and increasing by 1% in April. The number of new orders in Germany in the previous month has markedly improved according to the association. However, compared to the second quarter 2006, the loss was markedly reduced by 9% compared to the first quarter. According to the ZVEI, the cause of this is mainly in the collapse of microprocessors.
Cumulated, the semiconductor loss in the first six months of the year 2006 was 2% on the previous year. However, discrete and Opto semiconductors, as well as sensors, have notched up a cumulated growth of 17%. For the whole of 2006, however, the expectations are declining according to the latest developments and continue to remain below 1.00.
