The German ZVEI reports a turnover for semiconductors in Germany in January 2006 that is slightly above that of December 2005. The monthly turnover was 8% above that of January 2005. After taking the corrected figures for December into account, the semiconductor market in Germany for the whole year 2005 grew by 2% compared to the previous year. In Europe, in contrast, there is a weakening of approximately half a percent (in Euro). The number of new orders in Germany has further markedly improved after +4% in December (corrected) and -2% in November. In this, the ZVEI sees improved prospects for a successful 2006. A growth of around 5% is expected whereby the Dollar exchange rate will have an effect. The Book-To-Bill-Ratio, an indicator of the medium-term trend, at 1.02% was an improvement on the past month.
