Semtech has bought the Swiss company Xemics for 43 million US$. A further 16 million US$ of the purchase price are tied to turnover forecasts. Xemics was founded in 1997 as a spin-off of the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM) and employs 77 people. The development-oriented company produces power-saving analogue solutions, Audoi-Codecs, HF and integrated digital applications in medical technology, sensor technology and data acquisition, 8-Bit RISC controllers and wireless applications for the embedded and automotive markets.
Now in 2004 Xemics achieved a turnover of 23 M US$. The Swiss company will be taken over by the Semtech International AG, the Swiss subsidiary of Semtech and will operate as the area of Wireless and Sensing Products. Semtech was founded in 1960 and produces modules for power management for power supply and battery applications, protective modules as well as other analogue and mixed-signal ICs. In the business year 2005, the company achieved a turnover of 253.6 M US$ and a net profit of 58.9 M US$.
