This years Shell research prize for women scientists was won by the researcher at the Hahn-Meitner-Institute Berlin, Dr. Eveline Rudigier. She was honoured for a work that will improve the manufacture of environmentally friendly solar cells. For this purpose she correlated the material properties of copper-indium-sulphide with the efficiency of the solar cells and was thus able to optimize the process for thin-layer solar cells. The Shell She-Study Award has been presented since 1997 annually in Hamburg to young women scientists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland and is valued at 8 500 Euro.
