Siemens and Infineon plan joint venture 23-08-07

According to the ddp (Deutscher Depeschendienst), the Siemens Power Transmission & Distribution (PTD) division are planning a joint venture with Infineon. The undertaking is to be carried out under the name of Infineon Technologies Bipolar with the intention of producing power semiconductors. These consist of high voltage thyristors that are used in high voltage D.C power transmission. The company is to be situated in Warstein in Germany where Infineon already has a semiconductor product line. According to the report, Infineon will hold a majority of 60% of the shares. Both companies are already working together in technology cooperation.
