Suyin is expanding its range of USB connectors (with a total of over 370 different versions) to include the single-port USB-3.0/Type-A jack. To ensure backwards compatibility with USB 2.0, this right-angled, single-port USB-3.0 version designed for through-hole mounting is equipped with nine contacts: Four for USB 2.0 and five additional contacts for USB 3.0.

Among the connector’s most important characteristics are its contact resistance of 30 mΩ (typical), its insulation resistance of 1000 MΩ (initial), its carrying capacity of 250 VAC/1.5 A per contact and, among other features, its durability rating of 5,000 mating cycles. Due to its compact dimensions of 16.9 mm x 14.5 mm x 7.1 mm (L x W x H, overall), its range of operating temperatures from –40°C to +105°C, and finally its resistance to mechanical shocks of up to 50 G under defined test conditions for connectors soldered to the board, these connectors are also suitable for use under harsh industrial conditions.

The new single-port USB-3.0/Type-A jack has been available in high volumes.
