Smart Card Interface IC for 1,8V – 5V 14-04-05

TDK Semiconductor unveiled its smart card interface IC 73S8009R, ready to support smart card voltages from 3V and 5V cards to 1.8V cards for low-power applications. Other smart card related features include card clock frequency of 20MHz in compliance with ISO7816 and card current up to 90mA. A Chip-Select input pin allows multiple 73S8009Rs to be used in parallel for multiple SAM implementations in payment terminals. A QFN20 package option (4mm x 4mm) is available. Samples of TDK 73S8009R in SO28 or QFN 20 packages are available now. These circuits are also available in lead-free and green materials. Production volumes will be available in summer 2005. Pricing starts at $1.00 each in 10,000 unit quantities.
