Spansion-CEO resigned 03-02-09

Spansion, a Flash memory solutions provider, and previously a joint venture of AMD and Fujitsu, announced executive management changes as part of the company's plans to restructure the company and explore strategic alternatives for a sale or merger.



He left the company: Dr. Bertrand Cambou

Dr. Bertrand Cambou has resigned as president and chief executive officer and has resigned from the Spansion Board of Directors. Dr. Boaz Eitan, an executive vice president and member of the board of directors, has been named interim president of Spansion. Dr. Cambou has agreed to provide consulting services to Spansion. On January 15, 2009, Spansion announced it was exploring strategic alternatives for a sale or merger. Mr. Eitan in 1997 founded Saifun Semiconductors, acquired by Spansion in early 2008. Prior to Saifun, he held positions at WaferScale Integration and Intel.

 

The company`s net sales for the third quarter of 2008 were $631 million, the net loss was $118.7 million.
