For space-critical applications Suyin offers a solution in the form of its new 5-pin Mini USB female connector. Due to its shape, it is possible to place small components (such as chip capacitors or chip resistors) on the PCB beneath a portion of this right-angle, surface-mount, type-B Mini USB receptacle connector on an area of approx. 25 mm². The mini connector’s overall dimensions are 9 x 7.7 x 6 (L x B x H in mm). Two plastic guide posts help enable precise placement and – together with two additional through-hole soldering pins – they ensure an hold on the board during insertion and extraction processes. The three SMD soldering surfaces located on the closed sides provide additional mechanical stability as well as grounding/shielding. Reliability is specified at 5,000 mating cycles, and the operating temperature range extends from –40 °C to +105 °C.
