Synopsys takes over Nassda 02-12-04

Dispute ended

Synopsys is taking over all the shares of Nassda, which develops analysis and simulation tools at the transistor level. 7 US$ is offered per share; a total of approximately 192 M US$. The takeover has a history leading back to a patent complaint of Synopsis against Nassda. The dispute will be ended with the payment of 61.6 M US$ to Synopsis. Now in 2004 Nassda has achieved a turnover of 41.5 M US$ and a profit of 2.6 M US$. There was no large buffer for the upcoming payment to Synopsis. For this reason Nassda’s CEO Wang sees the takeover as “a positive way to resolve the litigation between the companies ". According to its information, Nassda employs 100 staff.
