Tilera names former Xilix Executive new CEO 26-09-07


Tilera, a fabless semiconductor company has named Omid Tahernia, 47, Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1. Tahernia was previously the vice president and general manager of the Processing Solutions Group at Xilinx. He succeeds Devesh Garg, 42, who has returned to Bessemer Venture Partners, where he was employed prior to Tilera. Tahernia joined Xilinx in 2004, serving as vice president and general manager of the Processing Solutions Group. Prior to joining Xilinx, he held a variety of positions at Motorola/Freescale.

 

Tilera's processors are based on a mesh architecture that scales to hundreds of full-featured cores on a single chip. Tilera is venture funded by Bessemer Venture Partners, Walden International, Columbia Capital and VentureTech Alliance. The company is headquartered in Santa Clara, Calif. and operates a research and development facility in Westborough, Mass.
