The calibration laboratory of Vacuumschmelze (Hanau, Germany) has received accreditation to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard from the official German calibration body, Deutscher Kalibrierdienst (DKD). Accreditation was awarded for calibration of the following magnetical quantities: magnetic dipole moment, magnetic moment, coil constant of moment measuring coils, magnetic flux and magnetic flux density. The Vacuumschmelze laboratory is thus only the second facility throughout German-speaking countries to gain this scope of accreditation. The certification, awarded by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Germany’s national science and technology institute, on 20 December 2006, also serves as further confirmation of the companies expertise in magnetic metrology. Measurement results can be correlated directly with national standards, providing customers of VAC with a high level of reliability on national and international markets.
The accreditation now entitles the calibration laboratory to issue DKD calibration certificates for reference magnets, Helmholtz coils, fluxmeters and gaussmeters (magnetometers). In the measurement procedures performed for accreditation, best measurement capability was found to be between 1.10-3 and 5.10-3.
