Epcos has extended its CeraDiode CDS4 series with a 3 pF type that has the same solder pad dimensions (2.5 x 0.8 mm) as a TVS diode in an SOD 323 package. The Cera-Diode is therefore used for ESD protection of data and video lines with high data rates, such as USB 2.0, Ethernet and Firewire.

Epcos also offers a standard type (CDS4C12GTA) rated at 68 pF with the same footprint. This variant is used for general ESD protection and as an EMC filter, e.g. for audio lines. Both types have a response time of less than 0.5 ns.
