The Varta AG has now found a buyer for the remaining business segment of micro-batteries. At the end of the year it will be transferred to the VEG Beteiligungs GmbH and the Buy-Out Beteiligungs-Invest AG, both in Vienna. In 2005 the segment achieved a turnover of approximately 130 m Euro. The result was 11% below that of 2004. The own capital value of the transaction is conditional on the purchase price adaptation of 30 m Euro. The micro-battery area was the last segment of the tradition-rich company after the sale of the commercial batteries to Rayovac and the automobile batteries to Johnson Controls in the year 2002. In this segment rechargeable micro-batteries, hearing aid batteries as well as lithium-polymer batteries are manufactured in Ellwangen in Germany and in Asia.
