The German engineering Association VDMA has opened a representative office in Russia. The manager of the VDMA Moscow representation is Oxana Gancheva. Russia is the most important sales market in Eastern Europe for this industry. It is in place 6 of the most important export countries for German machines and plants. In 2007 German deliveries to Russia increased by 23.5% to 6.5 bn Euro. In total the German machine exports in 2007 increased by 10.6% to 135.8 bn Euro (2006: 122.8 bn Euro).
Approximately a quarter of Russia’s machine exports come from Germany. Especially asked for in 2007 were machines in the building and building material sectors, foodstuffs and packaging machines as well as agricultural engineering. Also strongly represented were machines in the segments of machine tools, conveying, general aviation technology, valves and mining. Since 2006 Russia has been the most important export market for confectionary machinery. The industry is expecting a double-digit export growth in the coming years. Many more than a hundred VDMA member companies have subsidiaries in Russia.
