Virage Logic announced the promotion of Alex Shubat, from COO to president and CEO, and the appointment of J. Daniel McCranie, from chairman to executive chairman. Dr. Shubat takes over his new responsibilities from Mr. McCranie who, in addition to serving as chairman, also served as president and CEO. Shubat, a Virage Logic co-founder, has been responsible for leading the company’s innovation and technology development since its inception in 1996.
Prior to co-founding Virage Logic in 1996, Shubat served as director of engineering at Waferscale Integration, a provider of Programmable uC peripherals (subsequently sold to ST). During his 10 year career at Waferscale Integration, he managed various groups including design, application-specific integrated circuit and high-speed memory.
Virage Logic is a provider of semiconductor intellectual property for the design of complex integrated circuits. The company’s portfolio includes embedded SRAMs, embedded NVMs, embedded test and repair, logic libraries, memory development software, and DDR memory controller subsystems.
