The Vishay net revenues for the fiscal quarter ended December 31, 2008 were $575.4 million, compared to $729.6 million for the fiscal quarter ended December 31, 2007. The net loss of $652.3 million was substantially attributable to the after tax impact of a noncash goodwill impairment charge and certain other items of $565.3 million. The company reported a net loss for the year ended December 2008 of $1.73 billion. The loss includes noncash goodwill and indefinite-lived intangible asset impairment charges, totaling $1.72 billion. The revenue of the year was $2.82 billion.
On April 7, 2008, Vishay sold the automotive modules and subsystems business unit (ASBU) acquired on April 1, 2007 as part of the acquisition of the PCS business of International Rectifier. The operations of ASBU have been classified as discontinued operations for the entire period of ownership.
