Worlwide fabless industry revenue in 2006 13-03-07

The FSA -  the voice of the global fabless business model - issued its CYQ4 2006/Year-End 2006 Global Fabless Fundings & Financials Report outlining key statistics for industry growth last year. So the fabless industry revenue totaled $49.7 billion, which equated to 20 percent of the semiconductor sales total of $247.7 billion. The worldwide fabless industry revenue grew 27 percent year-over-year. The top ten public fabless companies by CY 2006 revenue, which combined for $24.0 billion, or 48 percent of total revenue are:

 

  • QUALCOMM: $4.3B
  • Broadcom: $3.7B
  • SanDisk: $3.3B
  • NVIDIA: $3.1B
  • Marvell Technology: $2.2B
  • LSI Logic: $2.0B
  • Xilinx: $1.9B
  • MediaTek: $1.6B
  • Altera: $1.3B
  • Conexant: $986M

 

145 companies raised $1.9 billion, a 17 percent year-over-year dollar amount increase and a two percent year-over-year increase in the number of deals closed. Incorporated in 1994, FSA impacts the growth and return on invested capital of this business model to enhance the environment for innovation. Members include fabless companies and their supply chain and service partners, representing more than 21 countries. The report is available for purchase.
